Top 10 Ads - 2009

I just came across TIME's Top 10 Ads for 2009. I definitely don't agree with half of them, but below are five ads that I really did enjoy that were on the list.

Coca-Cola - I've always enjoyed their spots. Always does a great job of standing out in a neat way. Definitely a great commercial.

Prius - Not a fan of the Toyota Prius, but I really like this commercial. Kind of has the same feel as the Coke one, but still great content. Displays the benefits of the Prius. Still has the "eco-friendly" feel to the ads.

American Express - Always great when credit card companies reassure their clients. AmEx did a great job showcasing their promises to their clients.

Travelers Insurance - Definitely enjoyed this commercial. A very innovative way to spark someone's interest about searching for insurance. And definitely has an emotional appeal to it.

General Motors - I hadn't seen this commercial until I saw the Top 10 List. GM did a great job "reintroducing" themselves with their new branding. I wasn't a fan of the bailout, but this commercial offers reassurance.

I'm looking forward to seeing what advertisers are coming up with next year. Always eager to find ads that promote responsibility in a creative way.

Social Media Revolution

Found this video last night. What a great showcase of the effects of social media on our culture. Social media is going to continue to mold our society as more and more networks begin to arise. I'm eager to see where social media takes us.

But one question stands that a professor posed to me in undergrad. Is traditional communication going to outlast with the rise in social media? More and more people are shortening their communication, is it taking away from the significance of traditional communication?

Keep in mind - I love social media, but I'm curious to see how people will use it in the future.
